Totally Guitars Weekly Wrap Up April 23, 2021

April 23, 2021

A little jazzy improv started today’s update, followed by a story on what I have been working on for my daughter’s wedding, coming up in 3 weeks. As I will be officiating, it is not reasonable to be playing for the ceremony, so Rebecca asked me to record a few arrangements of her favorite tunes to be used as processional and recessional pieces. One that she asked for was quite bouncy, making it great for the recessional but it needed to be mellowed out a bit as part of the procession. I ran through both versions and wonder if any TGers recognize the song. It might be worth a CD or two to the first to identify it.

Needless to say, arranging some new tunes took a bit of a toll on some lessons I am working on, but I did manage to break out something by a new artist (only to TG, not the music world). I can’t believe we had never done anything by Kris Kristofferson, but that was the case, remedied this week with For The Good Times, a really basic fingerpicking piece that would be a good start for anybody who has not branched out into that world yet. Vanessa brought us a lesson on another group we only had one song by, Live, and their tune Lightning Crashes.

Next week we expect to see more from Live and Kristofferson, along with an arrangement of You Are So Beautiful from Doug. I hear from Bob that we are about to add another band to the library as well. This time it is Rush and a lesson I threatened to do 10 years ago. It just fell off my radar and I want to thank our Canadian friend for digging it up.

I wrapped the video up with another wedding piece in progress written by Stephen Curtis Chapman which is on Rebecca’s radar because of Hawaiian artist Keali’l Reichel, which I have attached below. I hope you enjoy it.
