Lesson notes

Lightning Crashes is a song by American rock band Līve. It’s taken from their 2nd studio album Throwing Copper, released in 1994.

This lesson is mainly based on frontman Ed Kowalczyk’s acoustic live performances.

He plays it with chord shapes in the key of C, with all six strings tuned down a half step to Eb-Ab-Db-Gb-Bb-Eb.

We take a look at the usual suspects such as the chords, which include several barre chords as well as open chords. We break down the strumming, with its syncopated feel and go through the progression.
