Halfway through the year and today’s update included a lot of playing and just a small bit of talking. The main thoughts had to do with harmonizing a melody, particularly looking at options for Waltzing Mathilda. Of course, this was inspired by the recent lesson on My Grandfather’s Clock, which is where I start many students when they want to head into instrumental solos and arranging.

We did add a couple REO Speedwagon songs to the library with Keep On Loving You and Can’t Fight This Feeling, along with a bunch of new packs – Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young Volume 4 (a 6-pack of solo songs from SN&Y), Masters Of Metal, Motown & Soul, Texas Songwriters, Storytellers and Prog Rock Volume 2. Other musical excursions included some Neil Young and Stefan Grossman’s Bermuda Triangle Exit.
