Summer is here and that means we are getting within shouting distance of IGC. Today’s News had some info for current and past guests as we are finally getting around to getting all the old video available for all IGC alumni. Details on that and other stuff went out in an email the other day so if you are on board for this year you should have received a message from me.

This week I finally finished another lesson that has been under construction for a few years (like Get Back), Blue Sky by The Allman Brothers. Many songs present so many different angles I can take. Then I can’t decide where to go and it gets backed up to a side burner, or even put back in the cupboard. Once I decided that including the solos was the big obstacle, I had a starting point.

We also had a great lesson from Vanessa on If I Needed You by Townes Van Zandt. I would guess many out there are not to familiar with Townes but he is highly regarded in the country-folk-singer-songwriter world that includes John Prine, Kris Kristoffererson, Willie Nelson, and a few others.

The FOTW this week was a theory review with Ed, although review is a bit subjective as evidenced by Scott’s comment on The Forum. I don’t believe you can hear this stuff too many times.

I mentioned something about our webcast scheduling, which should be a little more regular and planned going forward. Watch for Max and/or me the first and third Saturdays of the month. And speaking of our DVDs, Campfire Volume 2: 3-Chord Songs is available for just one more day at the special, launch price. Max also just finished a set of Clapton songs that are worth checking out.

There were also a few comments on the recent Led Zeppelin plagiarism case, and a few examples of songs that might have gotten them off the hook. Then a little John Fahey and ragtime improv to take us out.

Till July…
