Totally Guitars Weekly Wrap Up August 17th, 2012

This week there were some interesting questions bantering about on the
Forum. Folks asked about things like the numbering system and starting
points for Pentatonic patterns, as well as ways to identify key
changes. I took a bit of News time to address those, along with a
brief review of a concert I went to this week. It was Yes and Procol
Harum, two of my favorite bands. Maybe I will get to a more detailed
account of this later.
Songs and lessons released this week into the Target Program included
Fairport Convention’s version of Percy’s Song (Bob Dylan), and Pinball
Wizard by The Who. Interestingly one of these has been on our
Recommend A Lesson list for over three years and the other for about a
week. Keep those requests coming in as you never know what will grab
my attention and get bumped way up in the queue.
Our Fly On The Wall series has been recently Jerry Garcia heavy with
lessons covering his arrangements of Russian Lullaby (along with David
Grisman) and Peggy-O, an old folk song Jerry was fond of.
Student Reviews this week went into Who’ll Stop The Rain by Creedence
Clearwater Revival, and Something In The Way She Moves by James Taylor.
And on the Trivia side… I brought back a feature I had forgotten
about for quite a while, the Puzzle Of The Week. This stemmed from a
transmission problem in my car where replacing part of the fluid
multiple times was a recommended fix. Check out the question, put your
thinking caps on, and weigh in with your answers.
Don’t panic if the News does not appear next week, details in the
video… but will be back in two at least.
Stay Tuned & In Touch,
Neil
