Do You Know The Way To San Jose has just about run its course with me now that the lesson on my solo arrangement got finished this week. I hope some of you who like instrumentals will have a go at it. There are a couple of challenges, even for experienced fingerpickers, but I trust you will have fun with them.

On the theory front…This week I revisited modes, particularly the four most heard in popular songs–Ionian (Major), Mixolydian, Dorian and Aeolian (Minor). I went into Dropped D Tuning and moved through them in that order. Each one just changes one note from the preceding one.

A few snippets of tunes worked their way into the journey, particularly Embryonic Journey and Harvest Moon.
