Totally Guitars Weekly Wrap Up Feb 25, 2011

We wrapped up Psychedelic Rock Week with tunes by the Jefferson Airplane, Donovan, Iron Butterfly and the Strawberry Alarm Clock, a band noted for the start of Ed King’s career before he joined Lynyrd Skynyrd. We also brought out the 3rd part of Neil’s piece Quicksand. There was quite a variety of Student Reviews, including songs by Supertramp, George Harrison, Paul Simon, and even a little Country Blues picking.
Our Vintage Snapshots section had a couple of old Gibsons spotlighted by our friends at Guitar Showcase, an electric 12-string 335 and an L5, a classic jazz guitar.
The Luthier’s Corner had Keith Holland in a series about different kinds of pick ups you might consider for your acoustic guitar.
We had another 5 songs from Muriel Anderson in our Acoustic Snapshots department. She played a few original pieces along with her beautiful instrumental arrangement of Vincent, by Don McLean.
Neil also talked about our latest 10 Packs of songs by the decade. Last week we released our 90s Pack and this week the 2000s Pack. Each package has lessons on songs by 10 different artists covering a wide range of styles and levels.
Once again Neil gave us a hint about next week’s lessons, but you’ll have to tune into the News for that…
