Totally Guitars Weekly Update March 7, 2025

March 7, 2025

This week we jumped back into The Eagles catalog with new lessons on New Kid In Town and Joe Walsh’s Help Me Through The Night. Coincidentally, a question on the TG Forum brought up double stops on the guitar. The term is just a fancy way of saying play two notes together, unlike a chord, which must be three or more notes together.

This sent me in the direction of songs that use different intervals as part of the harmony. You are probably familiar with most of the tunes referenced but a piece of mine, One Step Beyond, has parts that use almost all the common intervals.

I hope you pick something up from the topics covered.

A request not related to the update:
Have you considered doing a lesson on the strumming by Mark Knopfler on “Marbletown”?

I do really like most of his solo stuff and I will take a look at Marbletown. The tune runs through my head occasionally anyway. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks Neil! Could I ask you to spend some time unpacking some songs by John Hiatt and James McMurtry, please? Thanks bruv!!👍

Thanks for the suggestion and I will get them higher on the list of prospective tunes.

    hi
i tried to subscribe to your guitar method websight yesterday and you never sent me an email verification link. I love the way you play and want to learn from you but your website doesn’t have the feature that qallowws me to slow things down so I really need the tabs to go along with it. Please tell me you are still working and that I can follow along with your excellent instruction.
    Thanks,
    Tony Dunn
