Learn to Play the Acoustic Guitar with Totally Guitars
Today started with a random Christmas tune, as I need to play this evening at our local Tree Lighting Ceremony and figured it was time to review some sounds of the season. The News continued in the familiar, unstructured way but along the line I vaguely remember talking about Ragtime, difficult pieces, recent releases, and even a thinking out loud answer to the question of modifying Sleight Of Hand for non-cutaway players.
The new additions this week included Ron working on Taxi by Harry Chapin (Fly On The Wall), the final segment of Ear Training Phase II (Chord Progressions), Doug Young’s DADGAD arrangement of All Through The Night, Vanessa’s lesson on Naked As We Came by Iron & Wine, and a new twist with an Acoustic Snapshot that was a “Work In Progress.” This practice session on my constantly evolving arrangement of Heliotrope Bouquet, a collaboration piece from Louis Chauvin and Scott Joplin, was basically a progress report on how this near impossible piece is coming along. I frequently find myself forgetting some of the everyday messages I deliver to students when I work on my own challenges, but recently the idea of isolating and repeating the difficult passages seemed like a really good idea. It’s funny what happens when the light bulb reappears.
In the meantime, I hope everybody has started brushing up on Holiday tunes as the days of December seem to accelerate compared to much of the year.
Off to the Tree Lighting…
