This week we resurrected a popular feature that our Target Members
have enjoyed since Day 1- Student Reviews. This part of the site is
where students upload videos of songs they are working on and get
comments and suggestions from other members, as well as a critical
review from me. This week we saw reviews of Listen To The Music by The
Doobie Brothers and George Harrison’s Here Comes The Sun. We are happy
to get this feature back up and running.
We also added Target lessons by Buddy Holly, Damien Rice, and a slack
key instrumental- Ke Aloha. The Buddy Holly tune was Words Of Love, a
song covered by no less than The Beatles as John Lennon was a huge fan
of Holly’s. We continued our exploration of Damien Rice songs with one
of his first to get airplay here- The Blower’s Daughter. This is a
classic example of his use of semi-open barre chords that really
contribute to an interesting sound. We also had a short Fly On The
Wall video for this song as my student Pete started working on it
recently.
Another Fly On The Wall video was published this week that featured
Kevin working on Closer To Fine, by The Indigo Girls. this lessons
also went a bit into explaining Suspended Chords.
On a little sideline, I had fun tracking the progress of The Banner.
If you have not been following this, be sure to check the thread on
the Forum as to the whereabouts of this global traveler. It has made
its way to California, on its way to who knows where…
Stay Tuned & In Touch,
Neil
