Gryphon Interview Introduction
Share
Mike Mullins: Hello, and welcome to another edition of Acoustic Snapshots. In this chapter, I’m actually providing an introduction to the next few installments, which consist of an interview I did with Frank Ford and Richard Johnston of Gryphon Stringed Instruments in Palo Alto. They are the founders and proprietors of Gryphon Stringed Instruments. Back in 1969 they started the store, and today they’re still going strong. And Frank and Richard are two of the premier authorities on acoustic, fretted stringed instruments, and Frank is a top-flight luthier, and Richard is one of the most revered historians of Martin guitars to be found anywhere, with several books to his credit. And it was very interesting sitting down with Frank and Richard and getting to talk. I’ve known them for about 35 years, and I learned a lot of new stuff just from sitting through this interview. And I hope you find it enjoyable and interesting, the next few chapters, sitting down with Frank and Richard and hearing what they have to say about Gryphon and the time they have spent over the many decades now of being proprietors of this fine store. Anyway, I hope you enjoy, and we’ll see you down the line.
