Lesson notes

Singer/Songwriter and TG Superstar Dave Nachmanoff has been writing and performing since he was a kid. He has also been Al Stewart’s main accompanist for about 20 years.

Kindred Spirits is a song from his 1997 album Candy Shower and tells the story of his experience of meeting and playing with Elizabeth Cotten as a 10-year old. The song mentions her classic ‘Freight Train’ and is very similar in its picking style.

This lesson goes over the progression and some of the typical picking patterns he uses but these have evolved over the 20 years since he wrote the song and that type of randomness and change is encouraged.
