Lesson notes

Carly Simon burst onto the music scene in 1971 with her debut album, which included That’s The Way I’ve Always Heard It Should Be. The haunting melody and thoughtful lyrics made this one of her biggest hits.

She originally played the accompaniment on the piano and this lesson looks at ways to come as close to the piano voicings as possible. There is also a more general look at the chord progression. There are a lot of barre chords involved, including some from the seldom used D Family.
