Sailing To Philadelphia is the title song to Mark Knopfler’s 2000 album. It is a historical look at Jeremiah Dixon and Charles Mason, of the famous pre-revolution dividing line. It is sung as a duet with James Taylor.
The guitar part features a few very colorful chords, which can be very tricky to play. One involves using the left thumb to fret the sixth string. It also involves very fast fingerpicking (bass notes at 200bpm).
The lesson goes over exactly how the original was played and voiced but also gives easier options for the trickier chords. There is even what might be considered a ‘Campfire’ version.
