From Jackson Browne's 1972 debut album, Rock Me on the Water was also recorded by Linda Ronstadt that year. Browne's original recording was primarily piano-based, although he has performed the song accompanying himself on guitar.
This song became a personal revelation for Neil when he revisited Browne's debut album after discovering For Everyman. He created this new lesson specifically for the collection.
The lesson begins with a straightforward strumming arrangement, then moves into a Dress It Up section featuring passing bass notes and finger-strumming techniques that add movement and expression.
