Lesson notes

Welcome To My World is a popular music standard written by Ray Winkler and John Hathcock, and recorded by many artists.

This lesson covers probably the most famous version, performed by country music singer Jim Reeves.

We take a look at two different recordings. One is in the key of F (piano version), and the other in Eb (strings version). For that we capo the guitar on the first fret and use shapes in the key of E and D.

We discuss strumming with swing feel, straight feel, triplets, alternating bass notes, and go through the progression and arrangement for both recordings.

As a side note we even go a little bit through Elvis Presley's version. He performs it in the key of A (G, Capo II). It is also somewhat more uptempo and upbeat.
