Tom Waits debut album, Closing Time, released in 1973 wasn't very successful at first. Then the Eagles recording of his tune, Ol' 55 a year later did help his career take off. Many of his songs have been covered by other artists now, including I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You, which is one of a few songs he plays on guitar rather than piano.
