Cmin Funk/Soul Groove #4: Beyond the Basic Changes 2by Funk & Soul Grooves

This is the fourth lesson in our funk/soul groove series based on the “Red Clay" solo changes. This lesson builds on the previous 3 Funk/Soul groove lessons, so make sure you check those out first for some harmonic foundation. We’re going to explore another 9 harmonic variations, again going beyond the basic harmony. This time we’re going to incorporate some even more advanced techniques, including minor third substitutions, harmonic cycles based on minor and major third leaps, and significantly altered chord qualities. For each variation, I’ll show you how to progressively alter the original progression to get the new changes.
