In this lesson we’ll be learning a Christmas song, “O Holy Night,” composed in 1847 by Adolphe Adam. In addition to being a popular Christmas carol, “O Holy Night” was featured on the very first AM radio program in 1906 by Canadian inventor, singer and violinist Reginald Fessenden. It was the second song ever to be featured on a radio broadcast, preceded on the same program only by Handel’s aria “Ombra mai fu.” In this lesson we’ll learn a basic arrangement of the tune in C Major, starting with sweet and simple 2-note voicings in each hand and progressing to larger, more majestic voicings in the second half of the song.
