Feeling Alright - Piano Lessonby Joe Cocker

In this lesson we’re going to take a look at Joe Cocker’s cover of Traffic’s “Feeling Alright,” (written by guitarist Dave Mason). Traffic originally recorded “Feeling Alright” on their 1968 self- titled album, and although several bands have recorded hit versions of the tune in the years since, pianist Artie Butler served up a truly iconic performance on the Joe Cocker version, which appeared first on the 1969 album “With A Little Help From My Friends.” For this video we’re going to learn a transcription of the piano introduction, and then we’ll loosen things up a bit after that, exploring the main groove of the song with a focus on improvisation and variation.
