Lesson notes

In this lesson you'll learn "Fly Me To The Moon," by Bart Howard. Howard wrote "Fly Me To The Moon" in 1954, with the initial title of "In Other Words (Fly Me To The Moon)." Originally a slow 3?4 waltz performed at cabarets, the song later became quite popular as a swing tune. Quincy Jones arranged 3 notable versions, one for Sarah Vaughn in 1962, and two for the Count Basie Orchestra in 1963 and 1964— the latter of which included Frank Sinatra and became possibly the most well- known recording of the tune. In this lesson you'll go through the form and the harmony, then learn the melody, and finally take an in-depth look at a walking bass line over the changes.
