Lesson notes

In this lesson you'll study Jerome Kern's popular 1939 jazz standard, "All The Things You Are" (lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II), which was originally featured in the musical "Very Warm for May." In Part 1, you'll look at Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie's memorable intro, which has been adopted by countless jazz musicians as the definitive introduction for the tune. In Parts 2 and 3, you'll go through the melody note by note. In Parts 4-7, you'll focus on the harmony, including a chord-by chord analysis of the tune. Finally, in parts 8-10, you'll learn a full arrangement of the tune.
