Steve Winwood and Jim Capaldi collaborated on many of the early Traffic songs and many of them have a very distinctive feel, a somewhat mysterious mood.

40,000 Headmen is an example of one of these, starting with a minor single-note melody, then using chords with some emphasis on non-chord tones, meaning notes other than the root, third and fifth.
