It was written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, while Brian Jones’ contribution on the sitar gave the song a unique texture, blending the Stones’ hard rock and roll with the resonance of the sitar. The song is played in the key of D minor, but capoed to the 3rd fret, really putting it in the key of F minor. Paint It Black is a very simple song in terms of technique and the intro is a nice little picking rendition of the melody.
