I started with some thoughts about The Doobie Brothers because of a message I got recently from Jim Page, the author of The Ivory Salamander (Busted Down Around O&#8217;Connelly Corners), which led to the first story, with the requisite tangential diversions, of course.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s practical tip was tied to our recent lesson on <a href=\"https:\/\/totallyguitars.com\/lessons\/3014-empty-garden\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Empty Garden<\/a> by Elton John. It has been a while since I had an ear training component but this really seemed ripe for it. That carried over into today&#8217;s video with references to some songs you should be familiar with, and can think about by number rather than just the chord name.<\/p>\n<p>We also added another Bellamy Brothers song &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/totallyguitars.com\/lessons\/3015-redneck-girl\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Redneck Girl<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Mark your calendar for our James Taylor TG Live on Saturday, August 16 at 11:00 Pacific time. James will not be joining us but I will be going over some intros and licks on his Sweet Baby James album.<\/p>\n<p>We will have info in your email boxes about free tickets to the Djangatos show in Santa Cruz on August 23.
