Its a very simple process but there are some important things you should know

about restring guitar that can help you. First of all let’s talk about tools, string liners these are important

I’d like to used an electric string winder and this is basically a drill it’s got a one device that’s inside it. It

speaks things a long and it helps a loy with the speed of the process. And this is a simple srting winder

you can get this just about any store, what I don’t like about this you have to be careful because on

some guitars you can see on this one as well. It’s easy to kind of camp this over and it could actually

hit the head right here and headstock that createa line in there, so you gotta be careful with this kind

I don’t use this my guys used this, but I do seldom as a beginner type tool. This is the same as this part

here, this is design by friend of mine and you can get this from D Markley or just about any job of this

days carrries this any kind of stores kind of, I think this stores will have this. It pulls out and you can put

it on the drill and you can used it as hand crank and what this does it actually fits into the tuner better.

There are several different sizes on their you can zoom in on that and see there are several different

cavities on this thta will fit partiular tuners you can fit that on their, see that one fit on that one, so it

doesn’t move around it’s nice and tight on their.

So when you turn that string it can’t hit the edge of the headstock co’z it’s nice and snug in

there. So snug in fact its difficult to take off.I’d like to show you this tool I’ve got a craftsman this

actually a screw driver, nice thing about this screw driver supposed to a drill is that you can get the

right tension on their, and actually slow speed you can’t really drill on this thing with slow enough

speed, to where you want drill on that string. So fast that it breaks actually the string you don’t wanna

have the speed you just wanna have the ability to without cranking it you can get thta string fairly

quick. So it’s important to find a screw driver it doesn’t have a lot of tork and its not real fast and thats

what craftsman screwdriver I have several here in the shop that we used and their all the same device

basically so I wanna tell you about that. We even discussing how to change strings on the guitar. So far

we’ve look at how to what the tools to use to restringing guitar as far as hand crank is. But now were

gonna talk about tha other tools.

This is an important tool its a string cutter, its just a high quality wire clipper and this kind of

serve a couple of purposes we’ll talk about that when we changed the strings. And with that also a

tuning device. Best thing device that I found that is new will fit on headstock type tuners. You don’t need

pick up on the guitar, it works on electric guitar, acoustic guitar pick up the vibration in the neck of the

string very accurate tuners. And their vey unexpensive you can get this for under $20 highly recommend

this for several different models available most stores have in this days, so that’s the other important

device. So first thing we do is we wanna tune this strings down just a little bit, let me just do it by hand

you don’t need to crank for this and then we remove the strings. Important part here is when I teach

my guys when you have a tool in your hands. Don’t hold it over the guitar you bring the tool around

the guitar when your working on the guitar, that will stop you from maybe picking up something and

have it drop on top of the guitar. So you keep the tools away from the guitar you pick up your tool bring

it from the back got your string flip it off. (background noise), being careful not to hit the headstock

if you wanna remove that string.Sometimes it takes a little effort you might want to flip it on the end

their as well take the string off.Now here’s the other purpose of the tuner of the clipper is you bring that

over the top very gently you can grip the edge of the string pin. And by just gently pushing down from

this side you can’t harm that saddle it’s very hard material if you leave it this side you can leave dings

in their. Also this inexpensive type of string winders you know, they will do the same thing they will

actually scar up by seeing this all the time where this brigdes are scarred up. If you used one of this you

wanna come from this directly pull it up that way at least I’d like to used my dice my cutters here. So you

bring that over gently, lift up on that thing move it out and then take the string out. Also you might like

to have something to put your removable items from the guitar.

Hi I’m Keith Holland from Keith Hollands guitar hospital today I’m gonna show you how torestring your guitar.
